Network Systems Technician

Salary: $45+ hourly DOE
ABOUT THIS ROLE
This role provides planning, design, architecture, and support for lab infrastructure networks. You support LAN and WAN environments, information assurance initiatives, and network documentation and configuration management activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, design, architect, and support lab infrastructure networks
- Evaluate network products and recommend suitability for the environment
- Implement information assurance strategies and technologies including firewalls, VPNs, IDS, and vulnerability assessment tools
- Maintain documentation for internal and external configuration management processes
- Document network installations and activations
- Maintain maintenance posture for network equipment and software
- Support network operations and assigned projects
- Perform other assigned duties and occasional travel as required
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Network architecture and infrastructure support
- LAN and WAN technologies
- IDS and IPS concepts
- TCP IP, UDP IP, IPX SPX, NetBIOS, NetBEUI, SNMP, and DECNET
- Documentation and configuration management
- Supervising and communicating project status
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Network-level certification such as Security+ or CCNA
- 4 years network experience
- Experience installing and operating PCs and peripherals
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification required at hiring and must be maintained
CLEARANCE & LOCATION
- Clearance: DoD Secret or higher, or ability to obtain and maintain Secret
- Travel: Some travel as required
- Employment: Full Time
