ABOUT THIS ROLE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Model interactions between lunar dust, space environments, and spacecraft systems
• Develop new modeling and simulation capabilities for space environments and physical phenomena
• Simulate plasma interactions with spacecraft and dust
• Build modeling and analysis frameworks supporting Extravehicular Activity and Human Surface Mobility efforts
• Develop and implement analytical and computational models in software
• Process data and apply statistical techniques for model validation and analysis
• Produce technical documentation and support team and independent work execution

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Modeling and simulation of physical phenomena or systems
• Rarefied gas dynamics and direct simulation Monte Carlo
• Space environment effects, including radiation transport, charging, and contamination
• CAD and 3D modeling tools such as SolidWorks or NX
• Meshing, thermal, and finite element tools such as Ansys Thermal Desktop
• CFD tools such as STAR-CCM+, Loci-Chem, or Fun3D
• Programming in Fortran, Python, or C++
• Linux environments and technical writing

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of engineering experience, or Master’s degree and 5+ years of engineering experience
• 6+ years of experience in modeling and simulation of physical phenomena or systems
• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
• Preferred: ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
• Preferred: Electric propulsion or Hall-effect thruster modeling
• Preferred: Doctorate degree and Secret clearance
